Rotary Rocks Plymouth – . I would to thank all who came to celebrate with us. A lot of hard work went into organizing this event. I am deeply grateful to my committee and all those who helped to make it a success and am overwhelmed by the positive comments and feedback. Click here to view the full program.

The keynote speakers and breakout sessions covered a variety of topics, were well attended and all received rave reviews. Perhaps you were not able to attend due to prior commitments, RYLA, or other scheduled Rotary events.  Perhaps you were there but the sessions you wanted to attend ran simultaneously. Here is some information and a few links that might be useful for your future Rotary Programs.

  • The Human Trafficking session was overfilled – we had to bring in extra chairs. Click on Spreading Awareness to access the handout that presenter Joan Barry  was not able to distribute due to lack of time. You may contact Joan at joanbarry@comcast.net, if you would like her  to speak to your club or for a special program, free of charge.

  • There were several sessions addressing the Opioid Crises, including a presentation entitled Cory’s Cause featuring Cory Palazzi, brain injured through sports injury medications, with his Mom, Lori Gonsalves. View their YouTube video here then invite them to your club to speak or have an Interact-sponsored high school program.

  • PDG Dave Clifton and Rona Mann broadcast their SERVICE MATTERS radio program on AM 790 WPRV, live from the hotel lobby. Listen to the podcast of the program here.

  • You could hear a pin drop when Francesca Givannini gave her presentation on Into a Nuclear Age. Click here for her PPT which doesn’t do justice to her talk but provides a lot of information.

  • There were many other interesting sessions covering Diversity in Membership, Worthy Village, The Story, The Need and The Solutions in Guatemala, Rotary Action Group on Alzheimer’s/Dementia, Our Rotary Foundation, Sensitivity Training and Sexual Harassment in Rotary, Rotary Means Business, International Projects, Telling your Rotary Story through the People of Action Campaign.  If you are interested in having any of these topics for your club programs, contact Paulette Boudrot, pljadmin@comcast.net, who can connect you with potential speakers.

  • Want a better look at the Conference? Go to www.Rotary7950.com to view pictures of many activities. You or someone you know might even be in one of them.

  • On Saturday Morning, DG Steve Certa conducted the District Annual Business Meeting. The agenda included award presentations in several categories. See pictures on the district web site www.Rotary7950.com . Special award certificates were distributed to clubs for their outstanding service and achievements. These clubs and their awards are listed at the end of this newsletter

Our 10th annual Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) was held May 18th-20th at the Cape Cod Sea Island Camps in Brewster Massachusetts.  Around 170 youth (110 new participants, and 60 returning) and a couple of young at heart Rotarians participated in this three day leadership development opportunity. New Rylarians were high school sophomores and juniors sponsored by many of our Rotary clubs. Returning participants designed, developed, planned and led the jam packed weekend's activities. This highly successful program brings together youth from all socioeconomic backgrounds from throughout our entire district and helps them realize that, regardless of beginnings, their potential is unlimited. Check out the photos at www.rotary7950.com.
