International Convention - June 14-18 - Los Angles 2008

Link to RI Convention Registration - Click Here

We are using the services of the Hamden Rotary Club (through Bokoff-Kaplan Travel) for our Los Angles, California package for the Rotary International Convention. This has been a fundraiser for the Hampden Rotary Club for many years - a percentage of the profits are donated to the Rotary Foundation.

We chose this Hamden package because Bokoff-Kaplan

  • has a great reputation
  • can provide a complete package including ground transport
  • provides breakfast each day at the hotel
  • has personally inspected the hotels and venues
  • includes a full city tour to include the major attractions
  • are Rotarians themselves, so they know what we need and want
  • has your RI registration materials waiting in your hotel room
  • provides a superb welcome cocktail reception (you won't need dinner!)
  • will work with each individual to design the package that suits you best
  • has great "pre" and "post" tours for those who are interested

Dear members of the International Fellowship of Convention Goers:

Congratulations on your approval as a fellowship, just in time to help us with the great task of promoting attendance at the 2008 RI Convention in Los Angles. I am excited that the Los Angles will be hosting their first convention ever and will have the honor of welcoming Rotarians from around the globe.

This convention will feature a number of innovations such as interactive discussion groups. Let me tell you about some of the exciting activities developed by the Host Organization Committee and RI for:

Bridging the World - Through Fellowship, especially Rotary Fellowships!

Bridging Service Projects through Ideas and Actions!

1. The House of Friendship with carpeted roads and maypole becomes a journey with or without a map where you can create your own experience - booths will be interspersed, senior leaders will be available, and ongoing discussion groups will take place all within the Center

Three different ways to participate

1. Bring your ideas to the daylong, continuous, interactive discussion groups about 1) Literacy, 2) Water, Hunger, and Health, 3) Bridging the World, 4) Youth, and more staffed by trained facilitators. Visit my Web site for more information:http://www.rotary.org/president/stenhammar/groups/index.html

2. Ask questions of Rotarian panelists at workshops about Membership Development, The Rotary Foundation, Incoming Club Presidents, PolioPlus, Public Image, and more.

3. Exchange ideas at forums with senior leaders: directors, trustees, and past presidents

4. Learn from expert speakers about the topics of 1) Literacy, 2) Water, Hunger, and Health, and 3) Bridging the World

With such a wonderful mix of fellowship and service activities planned, I want Rotarians to know about this special 2008 RI Convention. What better way to spread the word than to ask you, the 283 members of the Convention goers Fellowship, with your 889 years of combined convention-going experience, to join my convention promotion team? In addition to promoting the convention, I would like to invite you to participate by:

Joining family, friends, and Rotarians from around the world at Rotary's largest annual get-together!

Please join my team by attending and helping promote all that is planned for the 2008 RI Convention in Los Angles, California. Thanks in advance for your cooperation!

Sincerely,

Steve Silverman, DGE
