Terry Humfryes joined Rotary
and the Bridgewaters Rotary Club in 1980. He has served as
club treasurer and was club president twice. His club has
honored him with a Paul Harris Fellow and most recently nominated
him for the prestigious Dr. Percy Hodgson Memorial Award, which
was presented to him in the spring of 2006.
He became involved in the activities of
the district in 1984 when he served as Area Rep and in 1985
was chairman of the District conference for the then District
Governor, V. James DiNardo. Terry served on the original
Polio Plus Committee for the District in 1987 and on the
Fall Fun Fest Committee from 1983-1989. Terry has been the
Registrar for the District Conferences as well as serving
in that role for District Assemblies,
Mid-Year President’s meetings, Rotary Foundation seminars
and dinners. He has also served as a District Team Trainer,
member of the District Budget & Finance Committee and
a discussion leader at Northeast Multi-District PETS.
Terry is a lifelong member of the First
Baptist Church of Whitman, where he has served as Treasurer
and member of the Audit Committee for many years. He is a
charter member of the Hanson Jaycees; served as Treasurer
of the Whitman-Hanson Regional High School Hockey Booster
Club for 14 years; coached baseball and hockey for and with
his sons for many years in Hanson; served on the Allocations
Committee
of the Old Colony United Way; participated as a Team Captain
for the Annual Sustaining Drive for the Old Colony YMCA;
was a member of the Cape Cod Canal Chamber of Commerce; and
he presently serves as VP of the Stone Meadow Residents Association,
where he and Mary reside.
Terry and Mary have been married
for 45 years. They have 3 sons and 10 grandchildren (7 boys – 3
girls). Their son Brian and his wife Jean live in Buzzards
Bay, MA, Bruce and his wife Donna live in Hanson, MA and
Brant with his wife Jennifer live in Kingston, MA. All the
families are very active in sports but rally around for the
family of Rotary at pancake breakfasts, chicken barbeques
and other family club events.
Both Terry and Mary have recently retired
and are now enjoying some cross country skiing along with
chasing their grandchildren between soccer fields and skating
rinks. |
