September, 2017

The month of September has been my Cape and Islands visitation month. It all went as planned - except that Tropical Storm Irma visited Nantucket instead of me. We'll get there later in the fall.

This month, I've learned about the Cape Kids Program, the Nobska Lighthouse restoration, and Paula and I had the opportunity to visit the Yarmouth Food Pantry in full operation. Congratulations to Falmouth for their new Interact Club. So impressive!

There are so many wonderful projects carried out by each Club in our District that I can't list them all here. Learning about them is one of the biggest thrills of my year.

On the District level, the 2nd Annual Motorcycle Run for Polio raised $935 and was great fun! Special thanks to Roger Cabral and PDG Russell Bertrand for arranging the ride, to Alden Blaho, the Weymouth Club, and MOMs for registration and breakfast, and to Akee Parwaz and North End Motors for the finish line BBQ. And thanks to the many riders! (Ride for Polio 2017 picture)

Put Your Rotary Club Event On The Map!
A message from District Communications Co-Chair, Zach Whittenberger:
This is a friendly reminder and explanation regarding the two ways to put events on the map and minds of other Rotarians using the District website!

The first step is the creation of your event through your Club Runner account. When your club creates an event to be shown on the club website, there is a checkbox or dialog box which allows the event details to also be shown on the District 7950 homepage. This is a quick and easy way to spread the word about your event/fundraiser!

The second step involves the "Around the District" custom designed calendar on the District 7950 website. Events posted there will be included in the DG monthly newsletter that is distributed to all Rotarians in our district! Once on the website, the club president can login using their specific username / password and post their events. You can create links to your events social media, ask for volunteer help, upload flyers and other files for people to download and much more! This calendar can be accessed from the district's homepage (www.rotary7950.com) or directly using the following link: http://tinyurl.com/y7jt3njb. Please contact Chuck Sauer (chuck.sauer2@gmail.com) if you need the username and password to be reissued.
